To the Editor:
In the Federal Way News, a picture on the back page upset me very much.
I picked up the News at a restaurant in Federal Way and lost my appetite when I saw the picture of the young man smoking marijuana. I looked around for the accompanying news story about the growing problem of drugs in Federal Way, and could not find any story to explain the picture.
The publishing of this picture is offensive to me as it glorifies the use of smoking marijuana. The caption even told potheads where they can go smoke it without being caught! It goes way past bad taste and poor judgment in including this in the paper.
Federal Way has a bad enough reputation and a bad enough drug problem among our young people. To include this picture sends out the message that it is okay to smoke pot in our community. The caption did absolutely nothing to dispel that idea.
I would like to see an apology to the community in the next edition, and a commitment from the Robinson family that there will be no more pictures like this, no more stories in bad taste, and while we are at it let's get a grammar check on everything that is published. The police report has been a source of especially bad grammar.
At this time I have absolutely no respect for this publication.
