All three Burien representatives to the Miss Washington Pageant placed in the top 10 on July 7 with the Gilbert sisters both chosen in the top five.
Amelia and Melody Gilbert remained close with younger sister Melody placing one spot below her sister.
Competing as Miss Emerald City, Amelia was named third runner-up.
Melody, Miss Burien 2006, was fourth runner-up.
Meanwhile, Burien's Jackie Graybill, Miss Puget Sound 2006, made it to the top ten among the 20 contestants.
Jackie was first runner-up to the Gilbert sisters in the 2005 and 2006 Miss Burien pageants.
Miss Kitsap, Kristen Eddings, was crowned Miss Washington and will compete for Miss America.
As Miss Burien 2005, Amelia was first runner-up in last year's Miss Washington Pageant.
The two young women made history by being the first sisters to compete in the same pageant for the state crown.
At this year's state pageant, Amelia won the People's Choice Award, which raises money for the pageant system by allowing audience members to buy one vote for $1. The money was split between Amelia, who received $2,000, and the system.
As third runner-up, Amelia earned a $3,000 scholarship.
Her younger sister received a $2,000 scholarship as fourth runner-up.
Melody also earned $1,000 as winner of the Hope Award.
Named for entertainer Bob Hope, the award is given to the contestant whose platform showed the most promise to help prevent heart disease.
Melody's platform, Eating Disorders Awareness and Prevention, and work on behalf of the issue earned her the award.
Jackie received a $1,500 scholarship for her top-ten finish.
She is the daughter of Retha and John Graybill of Burien. Her siblings are Jessica, Jennifer, Josie, Joy and John.
The Gilberts are the daughters of Dan and Charlotte Gilbert of Normandy Park and sisters to Shawn and Cassia.
Amber Trillo, Burien's Seafair representative, will compete in the Miss Seafair pageant later this month.
Looking ahead, the Miss Burien Pageant is seeking young women between the ages of 17 and 24 who live, work or attend school in Burien, Des Moines, Tukwila or adjacent areas to run for Miss Burien 2007.
The pageant will be held the week before Thanksgiving.
