SeaTac lawmakers cleared the way on Aug 2 for a new bridge over South 170th Street west of International Boulevard to carry light-rail trains to Sea-Tac International Airport.
Council members approved an easement to the Port of Seattle for the bridge.
The construction is part of the Port's realignment of northbound Airport Drive for light rail, which is scheduled to reach the airport in December 2009.
The Port operates the airport and will maintain the bridge over the city right-of-way.
The existing northbound bridge will be demolished.
In other business, City Manager Craig Ward announced that an informational video has been produced to explain the city's proposed property tax levy lid lift for fire services.
The seven-minute video is available from the fire department and will be played extensively on SeaTac's cable government access channel, according to Ward.
SeaTac voters will decide on Sept. 19 whether to raise their property taxes to fund replacement of two fire stations and the hiring of additional firefighters.
If passed, the city would increase total property tax revenues by 4 percent each year until 2012.
Rates would rise from $2.77 per $1,000 of assessed home value to $3.10.
The council is now taking a summer break, with their next regular meeting set for Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. in city hall.
In September, lawmakers are expected to vote on moving up their meeting time from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month.
The council now holds a study session at 5 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 6:30 p.m.
When lawmakers decided to combine the study and regular sessions, they moved the start time to 6 p.m.
