A bumpy road ahead at the Alaska Junction. Shoppers can expect slow traffic and limited parking for several weeks as paving crews put a new coat of asphalt on California Ave.

Photos by Jerry Robinson and Patrick Robinson
The repaving of California Avenue continues with work in the Junction. During the process the Merlino Construction crews unearthed large railroad ties that were buried under the street sometime in the 1940's when a trolley line used to run down the street. The paving of the junction should be complete in the next few weeks but the entire project which extends up to the Admiral District will take until next year to finish. To learn more about the project you can visit the City of Seattle's web page about it here http://seattle.gov/news/detail.asp?ID=6507&Dept=19.
