The King County Council honored the late Judy Duff, a noted North Highline area activist, in a ceremony at its Sept. 18 meeting.
Duff, a former president of the North Highline Unincorporated Area Council and chair of the King County Agriculture Commission, died on May 1 after a long battle with cancer.
King County Councilman Dow Constantine memorialized Duff as a person who took her strong opinions and translated them into action.
"We can all agree that there was no more passionate advocate for her causes and her community," he said.
Duff's husband, David, and daughter, Deanna, accepted the Council's memorial recognition.
Duff, a 52-year resident of North Highline, was a graduate of Evergreen High School and Seattle Pacific University.
The owner of a working farm in the North Highline area, she was a founder of both the White Center Farmers Market and United Farmer's Coalition at Pike Place Market, where she sold produce for more than two decades.
She also chaired the North Highline Fire District's 2000 bond campaign and volunteered in the Highline Public Schools.
