Business Briefs - Greek cuisine now open in Morgan Junction
Tue, 10/24/2006
A new restaurant called Kokoras Greek Grill recently opened in Morgan Junction offering lunch and dinner. Specifically, the cuisine is from Corfu Island.
"Kokoras" is Greek for "rooster," said Demetra Rouvas, who owns the new eatery along with husband Spiros.
"My husband is kind of cocky," she said.
The Rouvases moved to Renton after immigrating from Greece and hoped to open a restaurant in either the Proctor District in north Tacoma or in West Seattle.
"West Seattle was our getaway," Demetra said. She and Spiros love going to Alki and Fauntleroy, she said. They looked for three years for a business location in West Seattle.

Oh my darlin'
Clementine sells mostly women's shoes but also handbags, jewelry and accessories.
Owner Linda Walsh carries shoe labels such as Gloria Chen, Giraudon and Jose Saenz. But the store also sells merchandise from what Walsh called trendy "emerging designers" such as Miz Moos of New York, which is less expensive.
The age range for Clementine is upper 20s and over. Walsh said she's aiming for a wide price range through diversity in taste.
The store name came from a friend of Walsh's who was considering names for her daughter.
Walsh had been looking for retail space in the Junction for about two years. She is a West Seattle resident and a former King County social worker. She was part-owner of a retail business in Portland.

Boutique opens despite repaving project
Another new boutique in the northern part of the Junction sells artisan-made clothing, jewelry, books, paintings, sculpture and games. About 90 percent of the merchandise at Divina is handmade, said owner Julie Mireille Anderson.
She's selling merchandise tax-free through the month of October.
Anderson faced the daunting task of opening her new store as construction crews closed California Avenue in front of her business. But street repaving is progressing northward and freeing up parking in front of the new store.
