The Klahanee Lake Community Center is the place to be on Friday, October 27 from 6 to 8:30 P.M., when the City of Federal Way hosts its annual Tricks N Treats Funfest. Featuring carnival games, costume contest, candy, activites and prizes. Admission is $6 for kids aged 2-12; accompanying parents are free. The community center is located at 33901 Ninth Avenue South. Cats are on the prowl at Halloween and a 4-H club is being formed for Federal Way children who are cat-crazy. The first meeting is scheduled on October 25 at 7 P.M. at the Federal Way Library at 848 S. 320th Street. Bigg Dawg Productions and MOViN 92.5 radio station present "The Haunted House" at the Commons Mall in Federal Way. A theatrical production with actors and "terror-filled rooms" guaranteed to chill the bones through October 31st. Hours are Sunday through Thursday (closed on Mondays), 7-10 P.M. and Friday and Saturday from 7 P.M. until midnight. Tickets are $10, with discounts for students with I.D. cards. Kids from pre-school through 5th grade will enjoy the Haunted House presented by Thomas Jefferson's Future Business Leaders of America chapter. Presented as a community service by the group, the event is free to students dressed in costume. Those without costume are asked to bring a canned good for the local food bank. This coming weekend is your last chance to catch the Fright Fest at Wild Waves and Enchanted Village. From 5-11 P.M. on Friday and Saturday and 5-9 P.M. on Sunday, parkgoers will find a 3,000 square foot Haunted Mausoleum, the Horrifying Hall of Hearses and a Fright Fest Murder Mystery among the scary fun. On Friday and Saturday, there is a dance party in the Wave Pool from 8 to 10 P.M. SideShow Bennie and His Carnival of Wonders will perform several shows throughout the evenings, featuring fire eating and other amazing feats. General admission to the park is $24.99. The two police officers who serve at the Federal Way Police Department's substation at the Commons Mall are handing out "Halloween Safety Bags" this coming weekend through Halloween. The free bags contain a glow-in-the-dark bracelet, reflective stickers for costumes, junior badges, crossword puzzles and a stuffed teddy bear. Call 253-835-6720 for further information.
