In football, the Ballard Beavers wrapped up their season last Thursday with a 36-15 defeat to the perennial powerhouse from the eastside, the Bellevue Wolverlines.
Each KingCo 4A team was scheduled to play non-league game with a 3A school this season and unfortunately the Beavers were matched up with Bellevue.
Ballard earned Bellevue's respect, holding their high powered offense in check during the first quarter. The Beavers surprised the Wolverlines by scoring the first two touchdowns of the game in the second quarter.
Running back Colin Matthisen, a short yard specialist, scored on a one yard run. Head Coach Alex Barashkoff decided to go for a two-point conversion and moments later All-KingCo wide receiver Miles Schwaab scored on a two-yard pass from Joey Bolinger.
The Beavers came right back with a 20-yard pass from Bolinger to Schwaab for the team's second touchdown. Ian Essig added the extra point.
Bellevue then warmed up its offense by matching Ballard's 15 points in that period. In the third quarter Bellevue added six points. By the time the fourth quarter rolled around, Bellevue scored another 15 points to put the Beavers away.
With the loss, Ballard finishes the season with a 2 and 7 record. Their only wins were against Juanita and Garfield.
