You don't have to go downtown to see great theatre with the Ballard High School Drama Program presenting "The Skin of Our Teeth," a Pulitzer Prize winning play written by Thornton Wilder.
The play runs on Nov. 2, 3 and 4 in the school's auditorium and features a cast of 15 with 14 extras.
Wilder wrote "The Skin of Our Teeth," in 1942 featuring the Antrobus family, parents George and Maggie Antrobus, children Gladys and Henry, and maid Sabina.
Senior Josh Johnson plays the Mr. Antrobus, the father. "I feel pretty good to have the run of the family. It's always fun to play the older person," he said. Johnson is trying to achieve the true voice of his character while not sounding like a 17-year-old.
Kelsey Graves, a senior in the drama program plays the lead character in the maid, named Sabina.
"I hold the key to the play progressing. It has been kind of challenging. I have a ton of lines. It's my first lead, I'm very excited," said Graves.
Henry Antrobus, the son is played by senior Dexter Kearny. The character starts the play at the age of eight and then grows up to the age of 21.
Kearny says he is not used to playing a child who then grows up and he has to act like an adult.
