I'm writing in regard to the many "Over the Fence" columns written by Earline Byers. I do look forward to reading our local newspaper; however, my favorite is Earline's "Over the Fence" columns. It's almost like going to your local hairdresser's shop and getting the latest news or happenings. The only difference is that Earline puts her heart and soul into each column and all of her information is "first hand and no Gossip!"
I especially loved the last two articles about our great Des Moines drugstore and Mrs. Benson's retirement and the closing of the most successful small clothing store ever! (I work for Mrs. Benson, and yes, we will all miss her unique, quality merchandise and tremendous customer service! God bless you Mrs. "B.")
I would like to commend Earline for always sticking "close to home" with her columns, yet educating us locals about what is really happening around us, in her straight forward and unpretentious writing style.
Thank you, Earline. You're the best and so is Miss Katrina!
