Individuals and businesses seeking a way to give back to their community this holiday have several opportunities through the Holiday Express program at Ruth Dykeman Children's Center in Burien.
Here's how a business or family can help:
Adopt-A-Family
Ruth Dykeman provides all the important information (ages, genders, clothing sizes, gift suggestions). Participants do the shopping and also provide a minimum $50 grocery gift card or certificate for a holiday meal. The center then arranges pick up and delivery of unwrapped presents. They have a waiting list of families wanting to be adopted this Christmas season.
Host a Giving Tree
"Gift" tags will be provided for a Giving Tree for participating businesses and organizations. Tags list a child's name, age, gender and a gift suggestion. Customers or staff fulfill the wish on the tag and bring unwrapped presents back to business. Volunteers will pick up presents and ensure they get to the children.
Pick up a gift tag at the following local Giving Tree sponsor locations: Advance Therapy, 15623 First Ave. S., Burien; Key Bank, 17818 First Ave. S., Normandy Park; Sterling Savings Bank, 224 S.W. 152nd St., Burien; and Highline Public Schools administration office, 15675 Ambaum Blvd., Burien.
