Not a silent night

An Arbor Heights resident was running his generator on Saturday evening when a neighbor, upset about the noise, confronted him and reportedly threatened, "I'll get even with you."
A man feels that some of his neighbors might have lent a hand to Mother Nature prior to the windstorm. Examining a tree that fell, he noticed some clean edges on the base of the trunk. He suspects that someone partially sawed the tree before the winds hit, ensuring that it would fall. He says the tree did apparently block some neighbors' views.
When a Westwood Village shopper returned to car, he didn't understand why the officers were making such a fuss. Yes, he had left his 8-month-old alone in the car. And yes, the car was unlocked. But, gee, he'd only been gone a few minutes. Officers doubted his account of the timeframe for a couple of reasons: 1. When they arrived, the car's hood was cool (meaning it had not been run recently). 2. They had spent at least 20 minutes trying to find the parent in the store. (Because of the power outage they couldn't page anyone.) 3. When they arrived, the interior car windows had been covered with condensation, and the child was quite thirsty. Ultimately, dad was issued a ticket for parking in a handicap space.
An alert neighbor noticed a broken window and lights on in a home whose owners were in Las Vegas. When the owner arrived home, he noticed the shades in a different position and called 911. Inside, the officers found the man' sister in the master bedroom. She has a history of drug use and has entered illegally in the past. She produced a key to show she had access, but the key didn't open any of the doors. (Brother had changed the locks, and said that her key was at least 20 years old.) Sister was booked into King County Jail for investigation of property damage and trespassing. She was also wanted on a warrant from the Auburn Police Department.
In another case of neighbors on the alert, officers arrived to investigate the sound of "things breaking next door." They found a man ripping up the floorboards inside the home. He claimed to have permission to scavenge copper and wire from the house, which is unoccupied and being renovated. A computer check showed that the suspect was already under supervision by the Department of Corrections. The local DOC officer determined that the man was in violation of his probation and had him booked into King County Jail for that reason and for investigation of burglary.
On Friday, another Morgan Junction business was the victim of an armed robber. The suspect, a white man in his 50s, unshaven, with graying hair and a dark coat with a fur-trimmed hood, first cased the business, asking questions about service. He returned a few minutes later, displayed a handgun, and took all the money from the cash register.
