To the Editor:
Your paper's coverage proves the school board was right.
Seth Bynum's slanted piece entitled "Board silences global warming film," combined with Bill Johnson-Miles' nearly full-page letter to the editor which ended in a call to arms, clearly indicate the film is controversial.
I applaud the board for applying policy 2311.
If the film misrepresents some facts and reputable scientists arise to clarify the topic should we not listen?
Of course global warming is controversial. Lets shine a bright light on the issue in the classroom and encourage our students to draw reasoned conclusions.
The school board decision was not political, it was a courageous vote for good education. Perhaps their leadership will mean some parents who were thinking of leaving our schools because of perceived bias in the classroom may take hope and stay with us.
