The Ballard Chamber of Commerce gave out its 2006 annual awards last week during an evening reception at the Nordic Heritage Museum.
The King Salmon Award went to Sterling Savings Bank in recognition of its outstanding contributions to SeafoodFest.
The Golden Spatula Award was given to Lo Reichert of Port Chatham Smoked Seafoods in recognition of outstanding volunteer service at SeafoodFest.
The Spirit Award was presented to National Bird Control in "special recognition of all their help with the holiday lighting program over the past two years. Thank you for quickly coming to the rescue so many times. We couldn't have done it without them."
The Director's Award was given to Katy and Kal Szekely of Alternative Business Services in special recognition of "all their volunteer efforts over the past years. They've always been there willing to do anything, happily and without hesitation. We thank you for helping in so many ways."
The Community Service Award was presented to Marianne Forssblad of the Nordic Heritage Museum in special recognition of "her contributions to the development and stewardship of the Nordic Heritage Museum over the past 27 years. We thank her for helping keep Ballard's cultural heritage alive."
The 2006 President's Award was given to John Hill of Sterling Savings Bank in special recognition of all his "volunteer efforts over the past eight years. He's always given graciously without question or hesitation."
The Legend Award went to Chuck Mullavey of Mullavey, Prout, Grenley and Foe for recognition of his contributions "to the development and stewardship of Ballard Parking over the past 43 years. We thank him for his dedication and for serving the Ballard community in so many ways."
