Requesting information on the use of alternative fuels.
By a vote of 94 to 3 on Jan. 29, 2007, the House approved HB 1057, which would require certain information from state agencies that own and operate gas stations. The bill would require the agencies to inform the Legislature at which gas stations would it be practical to offer alternative fuels to the public and to other state agencies. They would also need to report the necessary renovation plans and projected costs of providing alternative fuels. The agencies would have to submit their report to the Legislature by December 31, 2008. The bill is under consideration in the Senate.

HB 1079
Merging fishing and hunting license fees for certain veterans and persons with disabilities.
By a vote of 95 to 0 on Jan. 29, 2007, the House approved HB 1079, which would merge the fishing and hunting license fees for certain veterans and persons with disabilities. For the purposes of the Department of Fish and Wildlife, the bill would amend the definition of "disability" to include a person who has ambulatory difficulty, difficulty handling or operating hunting or fishing equipment, and visual impairments. The new definition would expand the eligibility for reduced fishing and hunting license fees. The bill is now under consideration in the Senate.

HB 1082
Requiring that certain shellfish and seaweed harvest license be available for inspection.
By a vote of 95 to 0 on Jan. 29, 2006, the House approved HB 1082, which would remove the requirement that a person with a shellfish, seaweed or razor clam license must display the license in visible manner while harvesting. The bill would still require a person to have the license within their immediate possession for inspection purposes. The bill is now under consideration in the Senate.

HB 1085
Revising requirements for long-term care insurance plans offered by the public employees' benefits board.
By a vote of 97 to 0 on Jan. 29, 2007, the House approved HB 1085, which would allow the Public Employees Benefit Board (PEBB) to make available one or more long-term care insurance plans to eligible employees, retired employees, and retired school employees as well as eligible dependents. The bill would also eliminate the requirement for a consumer education program and alternative plan of care benefit for long-term care insurance. The bill is now under consideration in the Senate

HB 1095
Implementing the Part D drug co-payment program
By a vote of 43 to 0 on Jan. 26, 2007, the Senate approved HB 1095, which requires the Department of Social and Health Services to offer Medicare Part D prescription drug co-payment coverage to dual eligible medical assistance and medically needy beneficiaries. There are an estimated 100,000 persons in Washington that are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid. The bill would take effect 90 days after the adjournment of the session in which the bill is passed. The bill already passed the House on Jan. 22, 2007 and has now been delivered to the Governor for consideration.
