After reading Mr. Bulloch's review of "Charlottes Web" in last Tuesday's paper I have to strongly disagree with his opinion.
Firstly, I feel that if the characters did not seem magical or their personality's real it is due to the lack of imagination a movie screen offers vs. reading a book. Yes, Wilbur did sound like a Care Bear, but if you haven't heard, Care Bears are suppose to be loveable and that's what Wilbur is all about. At the end of the day we want to save Wilbur from Christmas dinner.
Secondly, I think Dakota Fanning was perfect for the roll of Fern. We should applaud Dakota Fanning (Fern) for being content to mug the camera, because she's not the star! It's Wilbur and Charlotte!
Lastly, I do agree Templeton stole the show, but all the other characters were entertaining as well. In fact, I think you should read the book again (which we recently did in anticipation of the movie) and then watch the movie over. It follows closely to the story and rates five stars in my opinion.
In conclusion, the movie was not a disappointment at all, it was great, I fell in love with Wilbur all over again, and I think a lot other people did too.
