Jeremy Strong, you can wake up now, the game is over.
It might have seemed like a dream because Strong was indeed unconscious when the Evergreen Lutheran Eagles played host to Mount Rainer Lutheran last Thursday.
It was however a dream game. Strong shot 11-14 from the field and 8-11 from three point range. In all he totaled a game high 30 points as Evergreen Lutheran cruised to an 88-35 win last Thursday.
"It was pretty good, I never really felt like that before," Strong said after the game.
Strong credited the team's point guard Nate Feller with getting him the ball. He said the team normally feeds off of their point guard, but he acknowledged his sharp shooting.
"Tonight was my night, I was feeling it," he said.
Coach David Habeck was quick to point out that other players cintribute for the 17-3 Eagles as well.
"Jeremy was very hot tonight, but normally it's any one of six players that step up for us," Habeck said.
Senior Aaron Mantey also played well for the Eagles. He chipped in 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
The Eagles got another good performance out of back up point guard Jack Parker. The sophomore knocked down some timely jump shots and controlled the offense very well for Evergreen.
"He does a very good job as a sophomore," Habeck said.
With the regular season in the books, the Eagles are looking forward to the start of the postseason.
"The guys are really excited to get into playoff action because we know it leads to state, and that has been their goal since the first day of practice," Habeck said.
The Eagles played for the league championship last night at Mount Leschi High School against Summit. Results were not available at press time.
