SCS 55, Vashon 39
Seattle Christian went on its way to state in Yakima with the Saturday, Feb. 14 victory over Vashon Island. egan Collier scored 18 points and Melissa Collier 11 for SCS. Alyssa Abe knocked in nine, Amanda Rablin six, and Tianna Homad, Kirstin Segale and Taryn Standley three apiece. Courtney Polich tossed in two.
West Central 2A
Eatonville 53, Foster 46
Foster came up just short of Eatonville Tuesday, Feb. 27 to miss out on early qualification for the Class 2A state tournament.
Jasmine Horton and Sara Paponjak scored 12 points apiece to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Lanaya Daniels and Amanda Mendoza scored seven each, Shantel Charmichael scored six and Jamie Camp tallied two.
West Central 2A
Colfax 55, SCS 23
Seattle Christian had a rough start in the state 1A tournament in Yakima on Wednesday, taking a lopsided loss to Colfax.
Kennedy 54, Lindbergh 53
The Lancers earned their seventh-straight trip to state with Friday's West Central District victory over Lindbergh. The state tournament opens today at Seattle Center. Daidra Brown led the Lancers with 20 points, while Katie Kirsch knocked in nine, Andrea Goins eight, Presley Neufeld six, Demetria Riggins six, Chelsea Lockhart four and Ashley Eneliko one.
Columbia 55, SCS 36
Seattle Christian's stay at the state 1A tournament ended with Friday's loss.
Melissa Collier and Tianna Homad led with eight points each as Alyssa Abe picked up six, Noelle Simpson five, Amanda Rablin four, Megan Collier three and Courtney Polich two.
Boys basketball
Foster 52, Pt. T. 45
Foster earned its way to the West Central District 2A championship game with a win over Port Townsend Wednesday, Feb. 28.
Foster fell behind, 14-8, by the end of the first quarter but turned around to outscore the opposition, 13-4, in the third quarter to take control.
Reuben Donaldson scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs as Adam Chisholm hit 10, John Williams nine, Quinton Hendrix eight, Robert Guttierez seven and Travis Miller two.
The Bulldogs have already qualified for the 2A state championship tournament, playing in the Tacoma Dome today through Saturday.
Kennedy 62, Ft. Vanc. 51
Kennedy stayed alive in the 3A district tournament with its victory over Fort Vancouver Friday.
Marques Moorman hit 24 points to set the pace for the Lancers as Antonio Gonzalez hit 13, Matt Swallow eight, Chris Blais seven and Bobby Gentry six.
Henry Hall and LonZell Hill added two apiece.
Mt. Rainier 68, Peninsula 67
Mount Rainier earned a trip to this week's state Class 3A boys basketball tournament with Friday's West Central District tournament win. It will be the Rams' first state trip since 2004 when they step on the tournament floor at Seattle Center today.
Alfie Miller swished in 28 points for Mount Rainier as Matt Otero hit 12, Jon Morine eight, Vonchae Richardson seven, Bruce Fuller six and Jarrell Banks five. Thomas Davis scored two.
