during pursuit in Burien
A suspect eluding police in Burien March 19 managed to jump from his moving truck just moments before the vehicle plunged 100 feet down an embankment and landed on its roof.
The crash occurred during an early morning high-speed chase that started after sheriff's deputies were called to a home in White Center where two people were arguing. One of them had a weapon.
Sgt. Steve Lysaght said when deputies tried to stop one of the vehicles leaving the scene, a four-mile pursuit with speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour.
As the suspect sped up Southwest 128th Street, he failed to navigate a sharp turn and headed straight for a cliff. His truck smashed through two poles that served as a barrier and a fire hydrant.
The driver bailed out just before the car flew over the cliff.
The suspect was arrested for eluding police and a number of other charges.
