Fifteen Highline Community College students will attend school on full tuition waivers after earning Academic Achievement Scholarships for spring quarter 2007.
The winning students earned the scholarships by demonstrating a commitment to future academic excellence and having significant honors and achievements. Nearly 50 students applied for the 15 available scholarships.
Scholarship winners include: Joseph Burnett of Burien; Christina Escoto and Ashley Totten of Des Moines; and Chris Sims of North Highline.
Academic Achievement Scholarships are awarded each fall, winter and spring quarter to acknowledge outstanding academic achievement and to promote continued excellence in future education.
Phi Theta Kappa, the two-year college international honor society, administers them. Full-time students who are Washington residents and who hold a grade point average of 3.5 or above are eligible to compete for the scholarships.
Tuition at Highline for Washington state residents is $862 for 15 credits. The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges sets tuition rates for all of Washington's community colleges.
