Early Sunday, a 44-year-old Morgan Junction resident was found dead in his apartment after acquaintances alerted police to an earlier fight and expressed their concern over the man's welfare. The victim, who was wheelchair-bound, suffered severe head trauma. Officers followed a blood trail and were alerted later that a possible suspect, covered in blood, was taken into custody near California Ave. and SW Holly at 5:45 am. Other residents reported hearing an early morning disturbance, but had become accustomed to such incidents. The suspect is a 45-year-old transient who occasionally lived with the victim. He was booked into King County Jail for investigation of homicide.
On 4th South, an 88-year-old man was the victim of a home invasion robbery Friday morning. A white male, wearing a black puffy jacket, dark colored pants, and a ski mask with eye holes, rang the doorbell and shoved the elderly man down a hallway and demanded money. He fled with the victim's wallet with $500 and credit cards.
When officers went to the 4700 block of 44th SW to investigate a man living in his car, they discovered that he was wanted on a $3,000 King County Sheriff's Office warrant. The man was booked into King County Jail.
At the Morgan Junction Thursday evening, a man walked into a store, demanded money from a woman waiting in the lobby, then grabbed and rifled through her purse when she told him she didn't have any. The woman recovered her purse, ran to the manager's office with an employee, and locked the door. The man yelled obscenities and threatened to come back and kill them. Officers found a man nearby who matched the subject description. The 29-year-old Lynnwood resident was booked into King County Jail for investigation of harassment and attempted theft.
After Admiral-area officers saw a vehicle tailgating, honking, flashing lights and passing cars at a high rate of speed (on the right, no less). Officers pulled over the driver, a 19-year-old Mercer Island resident. He was wanted on a $5,000 fugitive warrant from Utah and was booked into King County Jail, where he awaits extradition.
At two homes on 30th SW, unknown persons threw rocks through the windows early Saturday, causing over $2,000 damage.
