Ferrell's making another run

It's a warm day in Federal Way, and Jim Ferrell has opted for the iced coffee instead of the latte at Marissa's.
He speaks quickly and expressively, and for a moment his jubilation seems somewhat induced by his late afternoon caffeine jolt.
But it doesn't take long to realize that Ferrell is powered purely by a love of his work and the excitement he and the City Council have made in Federal Way.
It's been a fun and productive ride on the council, Ferrell said, and he's looking forward to another term.
Federal Way Deputy Mayor Jim Ferrell recently announced his intent to seek re-election to the Federal Way City Council.
Ferrell was elected to the Council in 2003, becoming Deputy Mayor in 2006. He is a Senior Deputy Prosecutor for King County and serves on the Washington State YMCA Youth and Government Board of Directors. In 2004, he was presented with an award in recognition of his continued support for the Federal Way Police Officer's Guild.
During his tenure on the Council, Ferrell spearheaded the election of Federal Way's Municipal Court Judge (formerly an appointed position) and proposed new domestic violence legislation in Federal Way to better protect women and children that is now being considered at a statewide level by the Washington State Legislature.
"Serving the citizens of Federal Way has been incredibly rewarding," said Ferrell. "I'm proud of the accomplishments made during the past four years. During this time, we've also seen improvements in our local business climate and a significant reduction in crime due to increased funding for our police department."
While great strides have been made, Ferrell relayed that there are many priorities for the future, including the creation of a City Ombudsmen to help citizens and city staff resolve issues as quickly as possible.
"Representing the residents of Federal Way is an honor," said Ferrell. "I look forward to the election and hearing from citizens on the priorities that are most important to their families."
A re-election kick-off will be scheduled in May. For further details regarding the campaign, please contact Ferrell at jimaferrell@comcast.net.
