Shop for locally grown fresh produce and flowers at Burien's Farmers Market, which opens for the season Thursday, May 10, at a new location.
Town Square construction is forcing the market to move to the parking lot of the former city hall at Fourth Avenue Southwest and Southwest 150th Street in downtown Burien.
The Farmers Market will be open every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Oct. 4.
"Shoppers not only get all of the benefits of freshly harvested food, but they also reap some great deals," said Debra George, who will manage the market for the Discover Burien Association.
"Some of the prices are amazing, particularly for produce that has that fresh-picked flavor. As always, there will be plenty of organically grown fruits and vegetables, as well as organic baked goods."
Market-goers also can shop for unique gifts from the handcrafted items for sale, from hand-built cedar benches to one-of-a-kind jewelry.
Lunch-hour crowds can listen to live music most days while making a meal of their culinary purchases or an affordable lunch from the Sal's Deli hotdog cart.
Shoppers who have the munchies can snack on items like Kettle Corn while perusing the booths.
George noted that many of last season's vendors are slated to return, so market-goers can expect to see their favorite farmer or craftsperson again this year.
Discover Burien and Prudential Northwest Realty Associates LLC sponsor the market.
