How dare Ron Sims and Greg Nickels threaten Burien and try to tell them how to run their City!
One of the reasons that Burien incorporated was because King County (read Ron Sims and Greg Nickels) was allowing increasingly large numbers of low-income, high-density, multi-family apartments to be built there. So many that now Burien has an 81 percent low-income apartment rental rate compared to 46 percent % in the rest of the County.
Perhaps Ron and Greg are expecting Burien to make up for all the low-income housing that was lost when they tore down Holly Park, Park Lake Homes, etc., and rebuilt higher income rentals and sales units.
One might also ask where was their outrage when 417 affordable homes, 229 affordable rentals, an entire mobile home park, and 117 businesses were destroyed to make room for the third runway. Enough is enough already!
Burien and other Southend communities have suffered enough economic degradation for the "benefit" of everyone else. All these do-gooders need to back off, apologize to the City Council, and congratulate them for the great job they are doing in rebuilding their city in spite of everything that has happened.
