Plenty of options for a hometown Fourth of July

Highline residents will celebrate America's 231st birthday in grand style the way John Adams, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, predicted it would be-"with pomp and parade, with shows, games ... and illuminations (fireworks)."
Burien
The Fourth of July Family Days begins at 10 a.m. and continues until 8 p.m.
The downtown celebration along Southwest 152nd Street at Sixth Avenue Southwest, will feature bicycle races, kid's games, entertainment for all ages, arts and crafts booths, and food vendors.
The 84th annual Burien Independence Day Parade will loop around Southwest 152nd and 153rd streets beginning at 3 p.m.
This long-time community tradition, sponsored by the Southwest King County Chamber of Commerce, will feature drill teams, a marching band, floats, antique cars, special entries and dignitaries.

Des Moines
The Waterland community's seventh annual 4th of July celebration-highlighted by Fireworks Over Des Moines-begins at 4 p.m. at the marina.
Fireworks will be launched from the pier, where they will reflect on Puget Sound, at 10:15 p.m.
Kids' activities include the Bounce House and games, sponsored by the Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department. Admission is $5.
Concerts will feature Buck & Elizabeth at 7 p.m., and The Billy Shew Band at 8:30 p.m.
Food concessions will be sold on-site.
A unique dining experience-VIP Dining on the Deck-will raise funds for Destination Des Moines' community improvement programs.
A $35 ticket includes dinner served by Tillicum Village between 7:30 and 9 p.m., front-row seating for the concerts, entry to the children's games and VIP seating for viewing the fireworks.

Tukwila
Tukwila's Family Fourth at the Fort begins at 4 p.m. at Fort Dent Park with kids' activities, including inflatable bouncers, face painting, stilt walkers, roving clowns, slides, a climbing wall, and miniature golf.
Families can bring their own picnic or enjoy food from approved vendors.
Entertainment is scheduled from 4-9 p.m.
Fireworks start promptly at 10:15 p.m.

Federal Way
The Red, White and Blues Festival-the largest single-day event in Federal Way-begins at 4 p.m. at Celebration Park, 10095 S. 324th St.
Music, interactive arts and dance activities, inflatables for kids, sports clinics for youth, and food vendors will be features.
A fireworks display begins at 10:15 p.m.

On Saturday, July 7, the Des Moines Parks & Recreation Department will sponsor its ninth annual Waterland 3 on 3 Streetball Tournament for all ages and abilities at the marina.
The cost is $100 for adult teams and $80 for teams in 12th grade and under. All entries must be received by Tuesday, July 3.
