At 14th and Henderson, officers stopped a woman driving a stolen PT Cruiser. The woman explained that she had met the car's owner "over crack (cocaine) and a smile" a few days earlier, and he had asked her to drive a couple of his friends home. After running this errand, the woman liked the car so much that she decided to keep it. She told the officer, "I was actually doing him a favor. I figured if I kept the car it would make him stay home and stop running the streets at night." She was booked into King County Jail for investigation of auto theft.
A 20-year-old man was shot in the chest and arm late Thursday during some sort of altercation in the 5600 block of Delridge Way. Suspects may have left in a red minivan with an unknown license plate. During the investigation and treatment of the victim, a large crowd of young adults "flooded" the scene and at least two separate fistfights broke out. The victim was taken to Harborview for treatment.

Citizens called 911 early Wednesday to report a white male walking down Delridge Way, waving a gun. Officers found the man at Delridge and Edmunds. Although he didn't have a weapon, he was intoxicated and had a history of mental illness. He was taken to Harborview for a mental health evaluation.
On Alki, a man spent three to four hours digging a giant hole (10'x8'x7') in the sand. Firefighters stated the sand was likely to collapse and cause "significant injury or death" to the 25-year old digger or to children on the beach. The man was evasive and uncooperative with officers and had no good reason for digging the hole. He was booked into the hospital for a mental exam.
