To the Editor:
Where is all the news about the east Federal Way annexation?
The city stands to gain about 20,000 residents added to the estimated 85,000 already there and a search of the keyword 'annexation' on the Federal Way News website comes up with no results.
Seems like an important enough issue to warrant some space.
Being against the annexation, I am pretty interested in as much information as is available to help figure how this issue was thrust upon us with such a short time to consider the permanent consequences.
For example, why did the city decide to allow renters, short-term residents and non-property trax paying residents, to decide the fate of property owners? Seems very unfair to me, yet no one seems to be looking into this.
If the annexation is such a good idea, then why were the homeowners only given two months to consider the issue while the city of Federal Way spent the last 4 years crafting the plan? Several aspects of the annexation and the process are questionable, not enough to cover in this small space. Someone should be raising eyebrows, asking questions and bringing to light the underhanded way this is taking place.
