Home invaded
Mon, 08/13/2007
On Gatewood early Wednesday, two masked men burst into a home, tied up the residents, demanded guns (the victim said he didn't have any any more) and left with some jewelry and dried-up marijuana plants. The homeowner told officers that he used to grow marijuana for a friend who suffered from multiple sclerosis but quit doing so after the friend died.
Near Holden and Delridge, several women have complained that a man living nearby is stalking them. In one case, the man actually tried to walk into a victim's apartment, but her boyfriend chased him off. Though he is associated with a mental health facility and is on medications, the man is free to come and go as he pleases. Officers provided one woman with information on how to get a protection order against the man.
A citizen found girl's clothing and a purse on the beach near Colman Pool on Monday. No one had seen a girl in the area all afternoon. An officer spoke with park visitors, but no one knew of any lost property, and there were no reports of missing children in the city. The items were packaged for evidence at the Southwest Precinct.
Concerned about early morning noise and parking problems near her home, a woman spoke with the foreman of a building under construction next door. She reports that he became angry. The next day, the woman discovered that someone had "keyed" her brand new vehicle, gouging it to the metal. The repair cost is $5,000.
A local 28-year-old was booked into King County Jail for investigation of eluding after he drove through neighborhoods near 21st and Brandon at speeds of 90 to 100 mph, driving on the wrong side of the road and not slowing down for speed bumps. For citizen safety, officers stopped the chase, but another patrol car later found the driver and passenger. The original complaint was that a citizen had heard a large-caliber firearm being fired in the area the car sped away from. During the chase, officers thought they saw something being thrown from the car, but were unable to find a weapon when they returned to the area.
Early Saturday, in the 9300 block of Delridge, two men were assaulted by four male teens at a bus stop. The suspects asked for a cigarette and then stole one man's wallet.
