August 15-One dog was shot and two others were taken into custody after the King County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call that three aggressive dogs running loose in the 200 block of South 132nd Street.
The caller reported that a woman had been attacked by the dogs.
According to sheriff's office spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart, the dogs tried to attack an animal control officer who had been dispatched to the scene as she attempted to use a catch pole on one of the animals.
At that point, a deputy shot and killed one of the dogs, a German shepherd. The other two, both pit bulls, wandered off but eventually were rounded up and captured by animal control.
Urquhart said the surviving dogs will be kept and observed, tested for rabies, and then likely destroyed. Animal control will follow-up to determine who the owner is and file charges, if appropriate.
The woman attacked was treated at Highline Medical Center for puncture wounds to her thigh and both arms, plus scrapes on her lower leg that were sustained as she tried to get away.
She is a veterinary assistant at Highline Veterinary Hospital. She saw the dogs loose and was trying to get leashes on them to keep them from running onto First Avenue South when the attack occurred.

Brush fire backs up I-5
Aug. 16-A brush fire that started shortly after 3 p.m. just as the afternoon commute was beginning slowed southbound traffic on Interstate 5 to a crawl.
Firefighters from eight south King County departments extinguished a wildfire between South 198th and South 200th streets.
The fire, which was reported at 3:05 p.m., threatened several condominiums and a single-family home on the west side of the freeway before it was contained.
It was started by a spark when the blade of a state Department of Transportation brush-cutting mower accidentally struck a rock.
A 15-20 mile per hour breeze pushed the fire along the dry grasses and brush on the shoulder of the freeway. A total of 2.7 acres were burned.
As a result of the quick response, none of the nearby residences were damaged and no injuries were reported.
The eight fire departments which responded were: SeaTac, South King Fire and Rescue, Tukwila, Burien, Kent, Boeing, Port of Seattle and Renton.
