The victim, a two-and-a-half-month-old infant, was transported via helicopter to Children's Hospital in Seattle.
The infant showed no outward signs of trauma. The suspect, who police believe to be the biological father, was watching the infant while the biological mother was at work when he called 9-1-1 to report the infant was not breathing.
On August 13, 2007, the infant was removed from life support. The medical staff confirmed that the injuries to the baby were consistent with shaken baby syndrome.
The King County Medical Examiner's Office responded and took custody of the deceased.
The suspect, a white male eighteen-years-old, was taken into custody today without incident.
The suspect was transported to the Federal Way Police Department and could face charges of Murder in the 2nd Degree.
According to the King County Medical Examiner's Office the infant suffered blunt force injuries to the head consistent with shaken baby syndrome and determined the cause of death to be homicide.
No names will be released at this time, until charging documents are filed. There is no further information pertaining to this incident.
