In Des Moines and Federal Way, voters approved on Aug. 21 a six-year property tax levy lid lift for South King Fire and Rescue.

The levy lid lift, which will continue the current fire and rescue tax levy, was approved by 11,788 voters (70.09 percent) with 5,030 opposed (29.91 percent).

William (Bill) Gates (5,977 votes, 44.1 percent) will face Gary C. Bollinger (5,378 votes, 39.68 percent) in the general election for commissioner position 1 in the district. John F. Rickert received 2,144 votes (15.82 percent).
