Highline residents are invited to illuminate the night with lanterns they have made during the Community Lantern Procession in Burien on Friday, Sept. 7.
The lantern procession will be part of this year's Art Walk in downtown Burien.
Lantern artist Denise Henrikson said, "Everyone's invited to participate by taking part in a hands-on community lantern-making studio where you can come and make your own lantern to carry in the procession, and keep after the event to bring the magic home." Lantern making will begin at 5 p.m. Sept. 7 at a studio set up in front of Mick Kelly's, 435 S.W. 152nd St.
Henrickson said the lantern procession will start at dusk (around 8:15) and will travel west along Southwest 152nd, ending at the Mark in Olde Burien.
Henrickson and lantern artist Leslie Zenz will also bring lanterns they have created, and some participants will bring lanterns they created at public workshops prior to the event.
The Community Lantern Procession and workshops are sponsored by the city of Burien and are free to the public.
