Cash thief busted behind Gen X store
1. Federal Way police followed up on a 911 call that originated from the AM / PM store, located at 31855 Pacific Highway South. The complainant told the police that an employee of the AM / PM store chased an unknown suspect from the store after the suspect stole approximately $30 in currency from an open till. Federal Way police followed the suspect in the direction of the Gen X store across the highway from the convenience store. Officers located the suspect, identified as Derekye M. Bolar, in the passenger seat of a car driven by another person. Bolar was confirmed as the male that the employee chased from the store. Bolar also had an outstanding Department of Corrections escape warrant. Federal Way officers arrested him and booked him in the King County Jail. The incident took place around 1 a.m. on August 20.
Deceased person located in Federal Way
2. Federal Way officers responded to a 911 call about a deceased person discovered in a home on the 30600 block of 8th Avenue South. The call came in around 6:40 a.m. on the morning of August 20. Federal Way police called in the DOA to the King County Medical Examiner, who responded to the scene and recovered the body for an autopsy. Pictures were taken at the scene and added to the report. No other information about the autopsy is listed in the report.
Missing wallet returned to FWPD headquarters
3. An unnamed person contacted the Federal Way Police and reported that they had found a wallet near the 1100 block of South 348th Street. The person found the wallet around noon on August 20. Officers discovered a Washington State ID, with a date of birth listed at February 2, 1975, and $47 in cash. Representatives of the FWPD recovered the wallet and submitted it and the contents into evidence for safekeeping.
Domestic dispute not violent, victim says
4. Federal Way police followed up on a 911 call regarding a possible domestic disturbance at a residence on the 34400 block of 9th Avenue Southwest. The call came in around 1:45 p.m. on August 20. Upon arriving at the scene, Federal Way officers met with the victim, whose name was not mentioned in the report. She stated that she had gotten into a verbal argument with another unnamed person about her moving out and listening to her mom. The victim confirmed with officers that there was nothing physical about the conflict and that she intends to leave very soon. Officers confirmed this information with the other party as well. Federal Way police could find no evidence that any physical altercation took place. They issued domestic violence pamphlets at the scene and explained the methods of obtaining a protection order.
Victim gets his head smashed at local Starbucks
5. An unnamed victim contacted Federal Way police regarding an assault that took place around 9 a.m. on August 20. The victim told officers that a known acquaintance grabbed him by the neck and shoved him into the door of the business. The incident took place at the Starbucks coffee shop at 2032 S. 320th Street. The victim told Federal Way police that the suspect was angry over a three-year-old business agreement. Officers tracked down the suspect during the investigation and charged him with simple assault.
Home burglary results in loss of jewelry, electronics
6. The resident of an apartment unit located at 1300 Southwest Campus Drive contacted Federal Way police to report a burglary that had taken place at her residence. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on August 20. When Federal Way officers arrived at the scene of the crime, the victim told police that an unknown suspect broke into her apartment by kicking in the front door and took two bracelets and a silver mp3 player from inside. One bracelet was worth $5 and the other was valued at $20. The mp3 player was valued at $150. The victim also sustained damaged to her door and frame, for a total of $150. Officers discovered a muddy footprint in the doorway of the apartment. They photographed the footprint for evidence; however, much of the crime scene had been contaminated by the victim. The report states that, because of the contamination, they were unable to process the scene any further. No suspect information is available at this time.
Simple assault leaves a man with a broken nose
7. An unnamed victim contacted Federal Way police to report that he had been punched in the nose. The assault took place sometime around 5 p.m. on the afternoon of August 20. The incident took place on the 1900 block of South 314th Street. The victim told police that he believed he was assaulted because the suspect assumed he had taken $10 from him several days prior. The victim told Federal Way officers that he believed his nose was broken and would seek medical attention at St. Francis if able.
Domestic assault turns violent for woman and her nephew
8. A woman contact Federal Way police to report that she had been assaulted by her husband. The incident took place at a residence on the 100 block of South 357th Place. The report states that the assault took place around 7:45 p.m. on August 20. The report also states that the victim told officers that her husband choked her around the neck. He also grabbed her arms and forcefully pushed her down on the couch. After the suspect had assaulted her, the victim stated, he also attacked her nephew, who had stepped in to break up the suspect's attack. The suspect grabbed a wooden house decoration and hit the nephew in the head with it. No other information is listed in the report.

9. A call came into the FWPD dispatch which indicated that an unnamed male was in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 34520 16th Avenue South with a gun. The incident took place around 10:35 p.m. on August 20. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located the suspect and identified him. Officers determined that the suspect had an active warrant for his arrest out of the King County Sheriff's Office for driving with a suspended license. The suspect was taken into custody for the outstanding warrant. The suspect was searched prior to his arrest, and officers discovered a drug pipe and a white crystal substance suspected to be meth.
