Crash blocks major street
Aug. 27-At approximately 11 a.m., SeaTac police and fire personnel responded to a roll-over accident at South 193rd Street and International Boulevard.
In a strange set of circumstances, a 25-year-old female in one vehicle started the chain of events when she stopped in the outside lane and got out of her vehicle to retrieve a clothing item from the road.
A following vehicle, which witnesses said was being driven erratically, swerved to avoid the first vehicle. That vehicle struck the woman in the street, then left the roadway, struck a tree and rolled over.
The driver of the overturned vehicle was able to get out, and then fled on foot, being chased by witnesses who lost sight of him after a short distance.
Due to the serious injuries to the victim and the serious offense-felony hit and run, felony vehicular assault-detectives from the King County Sheriff's Office Major Accident Response and Reconstruction Unit responded to conduct the technical scene investigation and follow-up.
SeaTac police assisted by Public Works staff cleared the roadway before 1 p.m., when President George Bush landed at Sea-Tac International Airport and motorcaded to Bellevue on International Boulevard.
