I would like to comment on the placement of skateboard parks.
First, I am not against skateboard parks. However, I do feel that making a skateboard park out of the Myrtle Street land is not the best solution for the following reasons.
Since there needs to be several skateboard parks, why not utilize the two vacated pieces of land that are located on California Avenue that are not practical or safe for small children to play?
These two pieces of land are not view properties and skateboards are usually watching their feet and do not require a view.
Also they are old enough that being on a busy arterial is not a threat to their safety.
It seems to me that having a large area with established trees, grass, benches, etc for everyone to enjoy, especially the view of the city would make more practical sense. Gatewood Hill needs a park that parents and grandparents can walk to let their children play.
