Dear Editor:
Anyone that enjoys beautiful winding roads with breathtaking views of Puget Sound should take a drive down Dash Point Road in Federal Way.
If you have a need for speed, even better. There seems to be little to no police patrol on this highway, which might be fun for some, but dangerous for the rest of us.
Residents here, including myself, cannot understand how drivers can speed upwards of 50mph in 25mph posted areas.
Specifically, the intersection of 47th Ave. SW and Dash Point Road.
Monday, September 3, 2007 a motorcyclist was killed on this corner in a collision. Darryl S. Stokes was not the first to die here, but should be the last.
This 28-year-old lost his life in the fatal S-curves that many locals have warned police about, myself included.
Living on Dash Point Road is like living next to a Nascar speedway.
If you attempt to do the speed limit on this road, I guarantee you will tail-gaited and passed. This road is a popular destination for those who love to speed and race (especially late at night).
Residents here are fed up, and asking local authorities to take immediate action.
Anyone interested in supporting the fight to get drivers to slow down should contact the police department at 253-835-6701.
