Scarsella Brothers Inc. is preparing to grade and place the initial layer of paving on 16th Avenue South in Des Moines between South 272nd and South 260th Streets.

The paving work, which is weather dependent, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, and to be completed by 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19.

Updates will be posted on portable message signs.

No parking will be allowed on the street during construction.

In addition to the work on 16th Avenue, South 261st, South 264th and South 268th streets were ground down and repaved last week from 16th Avenue South to limits slightly beyond sewer trench lines.

Both Des Moines public works officials and the contractor apologized in advance for the noise and inconvenience, and thanked local residents for their patience.
