Driving north on Interstate 5 one Sunday afternoon we became involved with several traffic slowdowns (stop and go) caused by traffic slowing down to observe an accident in the southbound lanes. There were several state patrol officers plus several other state vehicles with several personnel seemingly not being too productive.
It made me wonder why one or two of these people could not stand on the safety side of the road barrier to signal drivers to resume speed. It would certainly help speed up traffic tie ups, and look at the fuel it would save being wasted by all these vehicles waiting to get through this traffic mess.
Let's put our tax dollars to work.
One other observation during this traffic tie up: a driver's left foot having a very visible red sport sock sticking out the window, resting on and covering the side view mirror. Oh yes, he was also on his cell phone. Is this an accident waiting to happen?
