The Federal Way Symphony will hosts its first annual fundraiser gala October 20 to support the community's favorite music.
The Federal Way Symphony will hold its first annual Fall Gala on Saturday, October 20, at Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club.
Pete von Reichbauer, King County Council Member and Patron of the Federal Way Symphony for 2007 has indicated his continuing support for the Symphony as the presenting sponsor for this year's major fundraiser.
The theme for the event is "Begin the Beguine."
This famous Cole Porter song conveys an important message about the Gala, which will differ from the typical charity dinner and auction.
"This is Federal Way's unique opportunity to show its commitment to truly excellent symphonic music and an outstanding professional orchestra," said Executive Director Mary Gates.
"We've worked with Chef Andrew Woodcock at Twin Lakes Golf and County Club to create a special gourmet dinner for the evening," commented Symphony president, Kathy Franklin, "and auctioneer Jack Rhodes will present a superb combination of items we've procured from Northwest businesses during the live and silent sales."
Come and bid on hard to get tickets to performances and sports events, original art, fine jewelry, fabulous get-a-ways, gift baskets, crystal creations and golf packages to name just some highlights.
This year's Gala co-chairperson, Liz Johnson, made the point, "What really separates us from other charity events is the music provided by our own Federal Way Symphony Jazz Trio.
Plus, we're honored to have Federal Way's former mayor, Ron Gintz, serving as master of ceremonies for the evening."
Sharon Cooper, Gala co-chairperson pointed out, "Proceeds from the Gala will help the Symphony continue to provide exceptional music to the South Puget Sound community and to sponsor its well-recognized educational programs, such as the annual Summer Music Academy and the Marjorie Easley Scholarships, which encourage young people to strive to achieve high levels of musical accomplishment."
Alexander Papke, student at Illahee Middle School, will be in attendance to talk about his Federal Way Symphony Summer Music Academy experience as a student this past summer.
Social hour and silent auction begin at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. followed by the live auction.
Dancing will follow the auction with the Gala concluding at 11:00 p.m.
Tickets are $80 per person, including a $40 tax-deductible donation, and can be obtained from the Symphony office at (253) 529-9857 or adminoffice@federalwaysymphony.org.
