Palmer Stangvik gently passed away at home, after a brave battle with cancer November 15, 2007, in Napa, California, surrounded by family and friends. He was 71.

He taught nine years in the Snohomish school district before moving to Seattle. He then taught 5th and 6th grades for 30 years at Coe Elementary School in Queen Anne.
Palmer's deep connection to the sea sent him to Alaska, fishing his beloved waters for 40 summers. He was an avid fly fisherman and had a deep respect for nature and all living things. Palmer made a lasting impression on everyone he met through his wisdom, kindness, integrity and sense of humor. Palmer enjoyed reading, consuming a book a week, and was a big sports fan.
