The widow and young son of fallen King County Sheriff's Deputy Steve Cox are inviting community residents to a Remembrance Service on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Family Parish Church, 9622 20th Ave. S.W., Seattle.
Cox was gunned down in the line of duty last Dec. 2 while attempting to interview a gang member in a White Center home.
A former prosecutor who turned to law enforcement to make a greater contribution to his community, Cox also was president of the North Highline Unincorporated Area Council at the time of his death.
Maria is planning this remembrance not as a time for mourning but to celebrate the life of her hero, and for the sharing of "Officer Cox" stories.
She also wants to personally thank the community for its support of his work and for their comfort and support since his death.
