Our family came to Salmon Bay School seeking an education for our kids that was free from the constraining limits of one-size-fits-all curriculum and annual tests whose prescribed answers can never measure a child's curiosity and imagination, the very qualities which assure children their real place in the world as citizens and stewards.
The Wisdom Council was the first sign we had that we were in the right place and it's been a pleasure to convene this last council alongside my co-convener Cilla Scofield.
Our first series of Wisdom Councils was two years ago and since that time, change emerged slowly alongside existing governance and structures, helping to show that the results are more evolutionary than revolutionary. As the Center for Wise Democracy continues their experiments with Wisdom Councils throughout the world, we watch and hope and wait for more citizens and community members to get deeply involved with the topics and issues which matter, transforming distraction into action and turning to each other for wisdom and guidance.
The more our councils represent the full spectrum of ideas, thoughts and concerns among our whole community, the better it represents "We the people."
Thank you for your wonderful article which really captured the spirit and intention of the work, and for helping to spread the word.
