As a 57 year old native Ballardite, your story about Mr. Mason and a large population-at-risk like him, was eye opening and heart rendering and an even larger population of boomers are following hot on Alden's path.

I only wish the powers-that-be in Seattle would open their eyes and their hearts and stop with destroying entire neighborhoods and roots for thousands of us born and raised here - generations of us, and I fear for myself and others - it just might be too late. Ironic that the local "big" paper this week ran a headline re: Seattle letting developers run the show - so sad.

Thank you for acknowledging and making public this very real and truly shameful reality.
