Highline Water District commissioners Jerry Guite and George Landon recently were presented with a Commissioners Accreditation Award.
The award recognizes efforts by Guite and Landon in continuing the Commissioner Accreditation Guidelines in the Washington Association of Sewer and Water Districts Leadership Development Program this year.
The award is presented to those commissioners who have initially completed the Leadership Development Certification guidelines and continued attending workshops, which include instruction in education on legal and ethical requirements of commissioners and public officials.
Leadership courses are designed to help commissioners develop skills to assist in leadership growth, strengthen and develop the ability to formulate good public policy, and enhance and improve their personal leadership skills and effectiveness.
The Washington Association of Sewer and Water Districts unites special purpose sewer and water districts throughout the state to work toward improving utility services and providing them to customers at the lowest cost possible.
