I wonder how many of you readers know that Geno and Sharon Rumans, owners and operators of the wonderful little cafe, Geno's Cafe, have recently sold to new owners after 13 years.

Many of us in the community watched as the Rumans spent long, hard hours turning what was once a rather unnoticed and neglected storefront on Ambaum at S.W. 116th into a fine place to stop and have just the right cup of coffee, from a latte to a standard drip, or one of Sharon's delicious pastries or soup and sandwiches.

The Rumans brought a touch of class to an otherwise undistinguished group of shops. The community has been grateful to gather there over the years in such cozy surroundings.

We hope the cafe will continue to prosper under the ownership of a new, young family and we wish them well. Why not drop in and get acquainted? Sharon might still be there, baking, and as for Geno, well, he's just one of the patrons now, sitting out front and enjoying the fruits of his labors.
