Officers were dispatched to Jefferson Square after several callers reported that a man was ramming his car into other vehicles. The suspect fought with officers so hard that they couldn?t get him into handcuffs. In the meantime, the man wielded his keychain which had a sharp blade, and he managed to cut several officers? hands. When medics arrived, the man was strapped to a back board and taken to Harborview for an exam before being booked into King County Jail for investigation of misdemeanor assault of officers, hit and run, and resisting arrest.
Citizens called in a report of a man with a gun near West Seattle High School last week. The weapon turned out to be an air-powered bb handgun, and the suspects had fired several rounds toward the school. School security rounded up the students in question and held them to be interviewed by officers. One student admitted that the air-powered bb handgun was his and that it had been in his backpack while he rode the school bus that morning. He was booked into the Youth Service Center for investigation of carrying the weapon on the bus. The other two students were released to their parents after questioning. All three claim membership in a gang. It?s suspected that the weapon has been involved in several local drive-by shootings that caused property damage exceeding $1,000.
During an argument about money, a man choked his girlfriend until she almost lost consciousness. Then, while she was on the phone with a 911 operator, the boyfriend grabbed her hand and bit her fingers as hard as he could. The man had left by the time officers arrived, but they noted that the victim?s entire neck was red and starting to bruise and that two of her fingers were bleeding and severely swollen. The victim admits that her boyfriend assaults her frequently, often threatening her with knives. When asked why she stays with him, she responded, ?probably because of my depression.? Officers provided her with domestic violence information. They later located the boyfriend and booked him into King County Jail for investigation of assault and for interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.
At a Westwood Village store, a woman entered with her young son, keeping him close by. An employee noticed that the child had an open backpack that he held in front of him. She then noticed the mom take two items off the shelf and put them in the backpack. When confronted, mom startled yelling and throwing things around the store. The two then left in a white and maroon Chevy with large silver rims and mirrored windows.
