It was an early season battle of two Seamount League baseball behomiths, played under the Friday night lights at Moshier Field in Burien.
Errors proved to be a problem with help from a rough dirt infield along with walks, as visiting Mount Rainier outlasted the Highline Pirates, 6-4.
The Pirate pitchers gave up 11 walks and the Rams had the benefit of two errors, including one in what became a four-run inning for Mount Rainier.
Highline received only two walks, one error and one hit batter.
Pirates reliever Ryan Brett came on in the fifth and struck out five in throwing until the seventh.
Mount Rainier pitcher Kyle Johnson, on the other hand, went the distance on the mound and struck out eight in earning the win.
Highline started off the game with a hit parade in the bottom of the first, after getting out of a bases-loaded and one out jam in the top of the inning.
Brett blasted a triple to deep right center field and Chris Graham doubled to left field to bring him in with one out.
Ryan Mayner then walked, Hayden Rovegno was hit by a pitch and Ryan Lingle walked to force in Graham. A Logan Brickwell grounder scored Mayner and made it 3-0.
Mount Rainier answered with one in the top of the second as Daunte Santos walked and came around on a walk, a wild pitch and a Desmond Santos grounder.
Brett started off a one-run bottom of the second by hitting into an error and scored on a Lee Carson double rolling quickly past third and down the line in left.
Two walks and a Johnson single set the stage for a score on a sacrifice fly by Cal Reahard to make it 4-2.
Mount Rainier then stole the show by erupting for four runs in the fifth on a Loren Gardner-Young double mixed in with three walks, an error and a Desmond Santos single.
The bats then fell silent over the last two and a half innings to preserve the Rams' lead.
