Quidnunc, the local computer store in the junction, has been sold to another Seattle based computer company A-1 Best Computers. A-1 Best has two other locations in Ballard and Lake City. Started by Bill Hibler in 1994, Quidnunc began as a software only store and moved twice, settling in its present location next to Windermere Realty in 2000. The new owner is Mohamed Lahlou, who in addition to his retail outlets also operates a website called LaptopFix.com.
Hibler, 62, said, "It was starting to feel like it was more work than it was really worthwhile, for me and my wife, especially at this time in our lives." The repair business will be maintained under Lahlou's ownership but the internet service will continue under Hibler. "That's the one thing that was important to me. I've always seen that as my retirement income."
While the store has been sold, Hibler will continue his other business relationships with West Seattle. " I live two miles away and I love this community. I'm still on the board of trustees for ArtsWest and I'm on the Chamber board."
The name will not change immediately but the signage will likely change in the next 45 days.
The Quidnunc.net name will be changed, most likely to WestSeattleInternet.com.
