A Ballard day care worker in has been charged with first degree child molestation by county prosecutors.
Curtis Allen Rapp, was arraigned on March 25 and pleaded not guilty. He is in jail on a $200,000 bond and a hearing is scheduled for April 3.
In Rapp's charging papers, Rapp is alleged to have had inappropriate contact with a 9-year-old girl at a child center. The crime was alleged to have taken place between June 1 and Sept. 7, last year. The girl told her grandmother who informed her parents.
When interviewed by Seattle Police, the girl named two other children who had similar experiences with Rapp and who were uncomfortable with those experiences.
During questioning by police, Rapp at first denied his actions, but prosecutors allege he later confessed.
Rapp supervised a mixture of children ages 5-12 years old and taught in Crown Hill. He was been a teacher at a children's center since 2000.
School officials refused comment on the man or the charges.
