For the second consecutive year, Federal Way Television (FWTV) won Telly awards for its original cable television programs.
The 29th annual national competition honors excellence in television, video, web and film production.
Federal Way brought home two Bronze Tellies this year. In the Community Safety category, FWTV won for its "Top 10 Emergency List," a humorous public service announcement with a serious message about preparing for winter storms and other disasters.
In the Use of Humor category, a segment produced for last summer's "City Update" television magazine show highlights the City's permit center staff through the use of professional jugglers to demonstrate the number and variety of services offered to citizens.
Both segments were written, filmed and produced in-house by FWTV employees Natalie Rees and Sid Lee.
Winners were selected from more than 14,000 entries received from ad agencies, production and cable companies, TV stations, and organizations of varying sizes in all 50 states.
A panel of 27 judges chose award winners, who receive Silver or Bronze Tellies based on creativity and overall quality.
Past Telly winners include such diverse organizations as Nickelodeon, Microsoft, the
Hallmark Channel, FX Networks, Marshall Field's, The History Channel, CNN, ThinkStreet, Nike, Inc., Discovery Education, Comedy Central and Turner Classic Movies.
